"how to build a stereomoon"

"stereomoon" came around as a way to describe the two full moons in August that surrounded the writing.

Finding a title, allows me to think ahead on the artwork... I had envisioned the artwork to look much like the concept art as pictured.

I went and used the hand drawn art as the design for the shirts, which you can peep in the shop.

With a design in hand, I set about the actual construction of said "stereo moons". I picked up a pound of clay and went to work.

I sculpted the two moons, and with a mixture of various adhesives, I managed to affix them to a reel to reel player I owned.

For the album cover, I draped Christmas lights in the background, and using a small cutout to block the lense it creates a 'bokeh' effect, turning out of focus light into the shape as cut. I had done this in the background of the typewriter on the cover for 'I'm Attempting Clever' and enjoyed the small homage.

Now that I had a shot to use for the album cover, I decided to risk it all and try to get the machine to spin them.

Engaging 'play' didn't provide enough drive to quite spin them... 'fast forward' provided the torque required for the job.

Right as they seemed to reach cruising speed, they began to develop a high speed wobble... I rapidly shut the power before the moons could take flight.
