Silkscreening
A few years ago,
I dipped my feet into silkscreening.

I had hoped, at best to rattle out a few inky shirts for the band, and call it a day.

The shirts came out better than a test project and we carried them on the band merch table.

From there I have had a few other designs that I have sold.

My boler green T and hoodie came out after that in limited run series.
Naturally, 'Stereomoon' apparel was next.

The process, begins as most do, in a sketchbook. When designing I have to remember the physical limits of the screen and how to plan the black in the the designs (simply, to allow paint thru or not)

The drawing I bring into photoshop for any clean up, it is printed on clear paper, and 'burned' into a prepared screen. Using a calculated distance and time to develop, wherever light hits the emulsion sets... where it is blacked out, the emulsion beneath will wash out in a bath.

From there, a squeegee is used to spread the paint. There is a bit of a feel for it, so there has been some cast offs.

Overall the combination of design and physical process is something I enjoy doing.

We also have added vinyl totes to go along with the vinyl release of "stereomoon"
'the great return of Norma Desmond' design comes from the film 'Sunset Boulevard', a 1950's noir classic. An absolute favourite of mine. This was a fun exercise in design principals in order to execute the silhouette and hair of Norma.
