Animation has always intrigued me along with film in general.

As I was growing up it was the heyday of home video recorders.

My grandparents owned one that I was allowed to borrow.

Immediately I had the neighbourhood kids cast in the 'attack of the killer rabbit from another dimension'...

I also had begun playing with stop-go animation in a limited manner.

As the tech evolved I have spent time playing with puppetry and furthering my fun with stop go animation.

My biggest hurdle was always getting my drawings into the animation program. However, recently with the advancement of tech integration I can sit and draw, and immediately take pics and import. A workflow I can find a good groove in.

By bringing in the drawings, I am able to preserve the ink lines, and colour them using Photoshop.

I design characters in pieces depending on required actions, and using parented skeletons; animate in a 'tweening' style.

Meaning, everything you see on screen has been hand drawn, then brought into photoshop for colouring and then into opentoonz for animation.

Complex speaking parts, the mouths are animated by 'drawing' in the program itself.

Here's some of the drawings from the "Awful Things" video.

I think, a big challenge was to not fall in love with the little incidental characters, such as the pilot or Gordon and Albert, who man the hot air balloon.

If another idea strikes for an animated music video, perhaps they will return.

I have a few other animation odds and ends I hope to present here soon.
